Evaluation Director, Sierra Health Foundation (2012-2021). As the Foundation's first Evaluation Director, I built the evaluation department, managed evaluation contracts, and developed staff capacity in evaluation. Signature projects were the Black Child Legacy Campaign, a program supporting community-based organizations that were and are working to increase the safety of youth in their communities, and the San Joaquin Valley Health Fund, a place-based initiative to improve health and racial equity in the San Joaquin Valley. In both projects, I worked closely with community-based organizations and sought to advance their program and advocacy activities with appropriate evaluation approaches.
Assistant and Associate Professor, University of Delaware (1998-2005 and 2007-2012). I taught courses in introductory evaluation, evaluation theory, qualitative methods, and research methods, mentored graduate students, and led a range of evaluation projects for state, local, federal, and international agencies.
Center Director, University of Delaware (2002-2005) and University of California, Davis (2005-2007). I directed the Center for Community Research & Service at the University of Delaware and the Center for Tobacco Control Evaluation at UC Davis. In both positions, I worked with center staff, university administration, and community clients, as well as managing budgets and a portfolio of public service projects.
